I need more play testing: due to continuous game development, the rules keep changing, which affects game play time. The amount of time required on average is unknown: this ranges from my shortest game to my longest game, which was 2 hours, but that was playing against a guy who teaches chess, and it was before the late game speed up rules were added. That game resulted in a lot of stalemates and delays; this should hopefully be fixed now.

Overview:

Wizard King: War is a battlefield card game where players control powerful armies, maneuver soldiers across the field, and use tactical spell casting to capture and eliminate the opposing Wizard King. Blending positional play, deck-driven combat, and unit-based tactics, the game challenges players to outthink their opponent while moving soldiers, and managing spells and their effects.

Each player commands a faction of soldiers, categorized by Class and POWER, with distinct abilities that influence movement, combat, and board control. Soldiers advance across the battlefield, engaging in battles where higher POWER typically wins, unless modified by class abilities or spells. Positioning is critical, as movement and combat are limited, requiring careful planning to break through enemy defenses and reach the opponent’s Wizard King—the key to victory.

Spells add a layer of unpredictability and control, allowing players to reinforce soldiers, disrupt enemy plans, or gain tactical advantages. The game features three spell types:

[Light] Spells – Versatile, counterable, and play as standard magical effects.

[Dark] Spells – One-time use, powerful effects that cannot be countered.

[Holy] Spells – Strong, divine magic that can only be countered by specific [Holy] counter spells.

Victory is achieved by eliminating the opposing Wizard King, the central figure of your opponent’s forces. Players must navigate the battlefield, deduce their enemy’s defenses, and plan the perfect strike to claim victory. The game’s dynamic nature ensures that every move brings you closer to triumph or defeat, whether through raw power, precise spell casting, or masterful positioning.
